Why purchase health insurance?

Peace of mind Hospital cover means that if you need treatment in a public or private hospital you will receive support for covering some or all of the costs. With Hospital cover you will also have greater choice over the doctor or specialist you use, the hospital you stay at, and could reduce your waiting times.

Financial incentives There are also financial reasons for ensuring you are covered. If you earn over a certain threshold per year you may be liable to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge. If you are over 31 you could also be charged a 2% loading for each year that you don’t hold continuous cover.

You are not penalised for being healthy Health insurance doesn’t just cover you when you’re sick. Extras cover means that you can benefit from a range of treatments including dental, optical, remedial massage, chiro and physio.
